Shrimping boat on the Atchafalaya caught on fire early Tuesday morning
BERWICK — A shrimp boat caught on fire early Tuesday morning in Berwick on the Atchafalaya River.
At about 1:30 a.m., the Berwick Fire Department was dispatched to Bellvue Front Street near the railroad tracks. According to the fire department, the first truck arrived within three minutes and found the shrimp boat anchored to the dock, engulfed in flames.
The fire was put out within ten minutes, and investigators were able to determine it was caused by electrical issues on the boat.
