Pointe Coupee Parish issues burn ban; latest parish in Capital Area to do so
NEW ROADS — Pointe Coupee Parish became the latest parish in the capital area to issue a burn ban on Thursday.
Parish President Major Thibaut issued a state of emergency declaring a parish-wide burn ban. This comes after residents in Amite and Wilkinson counties, as well as St. Helena, Tangipahoa and East Feliciana parishes, were all asked to refrain from burning due to conditions conducive to spreading flames.
