Metro Council votes to allow parish to rebate local use taxes collected on two 2027 events at LSU
BATON ROUGE — The Metro Council voted in favor of allowing East Baton Rouge Parish to rebate local sales and use taxes collected on sales tied to two as-yet unnamed events at Tiger Stadium and Alex Box Stadium in March.
On Wednesday, the council voted to allow the tax breaks on taxes collected for admission tickets, concessions and parking for the March 4 event at Alex Box and the March 6 event at Tiger Stadium.
The resolution was proposed by Visit Baton Rouge and authored by Councilman Rowdy Gaudet.
The concerts are estimated to bring in more than $1.6 million in local tax revenue, a study by Visit Baton Rouge provided to the council shows.
A similar rebate was approved by the council in 2025 for two 2026 concerts in Tiger Stadium. Only one of these concerts—March 28's Zach Bryan show—ended up happening, with the Jelly Roll and Post Malone's May 23 concert being cancelled.
