EBR Schools' I CARE hosts fourth annual Sunshine Day on World Suicide Prevention Day
BATON ROUGE — East Baton Rouge Parish School System's I CARE hosted its fourth annual Sunshine Day on Thursday, World Suicide Prevention Day, to spread awareness of suicide prevention.
Across multiple schools, Mayor-President Sid Edwards, the Office of Violence Prevention, the City of Baton Rouge and EBR Schools worked to connect the community to resources to help work to raise awareness.
The district and its partners asked attendees to wear yellow to show support for suicide prevention awareness and participate in lessons promoting empathy, kindness and respect for differences. The event also saw activities that build positive self-esteem and resilience, as well as organizers offering self-care and wellness activities
There were events at the Baton Rouge Foreign Language Academic Immersion Magnet, Arlington Prep Academy, Woodlawn High School and Tara High School.
