ASCENSION — The Ascension Parish Planning Commission approved plans for two residential developments on Wednesday, adding 103 single-family home lots to the parish.

In a 3–1 vote, the commission approved the preliminary plan for Daigle Point, an 83-lot, 28-acre subdivision planned at the corner of Daigle Road and LA 929 near Prairieville.

Commissioner Cross Marchand cast the sole opposing vote following discussions on traffic, storm drainage and site access. No local residents spoke against the project during public comment.

The commission approved the preliminary plan on the condition that a roundabout at the Daigle Road intersection be completed before construction begins. Commissioners also requested a second entrance and exit point, as required by parish code.

However, attorney Cameron Miller, representing the developer, signaled resistance to the stipulations.

“I think my client’s not willing to change the plat that complies with the code to make those accommodations,” Miller said. “I don’t know what the workable solution is if you were to pass that motion.”

Construction on the roundabout is slated to begin in early 2027.

The commission also granted final plan approval for Black Bayou Estates, a 20-lot subdivision covering 7.4 acres along Black Bayou Road.

These approvals follow the lifting of an 11-month moratorium on new development. Ascension Parish recently approved two other projects: Harvest Fields, a 115-lot subdivision along La. 44, and The Farm, a 68-lot development north of La. 21, both in Gonzales.
