BATON ROUGE — Southern University will host a tailgate to ring in the first home game of the season. 

"Lacumba's Lair" is being hosted by Chancellor John K. Pierre. The tailgate will be held at the Southern University Welcome Center on Sept. 5. 

Two tiers of tickets are available, priced at $100 and $200. The tailgate will have food, cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks, live music, lounge seating and photo opportunities. Guests who purchase the $200 tickets will have access to the tailgate four hours before kickoff, parking passes, drop-off access, a dedicated drink and snack bar, along with other perks. 

“We wanted to create something that captures the energy, pride and tradition that make Southern game days special,” Pierre said in a prepared statement. “Lacumba’s Lair is about bringing our Jaguar family together, celebrating our history and creating new traditions while investing in the future of our students.” 

Attendees are encouraged to wear all white for the Jaguars' annual white-out game, where they will face off against Kentucky State University. 

Tickets for the tailgate are available on the Southern Foundation website. Proceeds from the event will go to the Chancellor’s Access and Opportunity Fund.
