BATON ROUGE — Community leaders gathered with residents at the Scotlandville Branch Library on Monday to address blight in Baton Rouge as part of a workshop called "Revitalizing the Block."

Residents spoke with city leaders about rehabbing old homes, blighted properties and how the process works. Dist. 2 Metro Council member Anthony Kenney said the goal is to strengthen neighborhoods across Baton Rouge.

"We really want to make sure we bring everybody to the table who's interested in the community who want to come back into the very same community," he said. "A lot of people have ties to family and really try to do some impactful projects and revitalization throughout the entire community."

Kenney said he plans to host more workshops in the future.
