Nearly 7,000 lost power in Tangipahoa Parish following Sunday's storms
PONCHATOULA - Nearly 7,000 Entergy customers in Tangipahoa Parish were in the dark following Sunday's storms.
Severe thunderstorms brought strong, gusty winds to the area on Sunday afternoon, knocking out power to many residents in Ponchatoula, Hammond and Kentwood.
As of 5:30 p.m., 6,964 customers in Tangipahoa Parish were out of power. By 10 p.m., more than 6,000 of those residents had electricity restored.
The City of Ponchatoula said it is working closely with Entergy to get its residents back online.
