Fire crews contain early morning fire that started when large tank of flammable liquid ignites in Addis
ADDIS — Early Tuesday morning, West Baton Rouge Parish fire crews worked to contain a fire that started when a large tank of flammable liquid caught fire in the Sugar Mill subdivision in Addis.
The fire started around 11:30 p.m. Monday when crews working on a dump truck began using a cutting torch, officials said. For an unknown reason, the valve on the top of the large Acetylene tank was compromised and the flammable vapor began to leak and then ignited, fire officials added.
Firefighters used hose streams to cool the tank to prevent any further explosion and released all the contents.
After this, the area was rendered safe.
No injuries were reported, and no vehicles were damaged in the area.
The Addis Police Department also responded.
