NEW ORLEANS - Officials said they recovered a body off the shore of Lake Pontchartrain amid a search for a missing boater who went overboard Tuesday, WWL-TV says. 

While it was not immediately confirmed that it was the missing boater, officials will release the identity once their family has been notified. 

Law enforcement and the Coast Guard were notified of an overdue vessel shortly before midnight Tuesday. Two men were reported to be in the water off Lakeshore Drive on Lake Pontchartrain's south bank. 

Officials were able to rescue one of the men, but the other remained missing.
