BATON ROUGE — Three organizations are looking for artists to create original artwork for ten utility boxes along the Government Street corridor and connected streets.

The Walls Project, Mid City Merchants and the Old Goodwood Crime Prevention and Neighborhood Improvement District are partnering on what they're calling a Utility Box Art Walk. The project aims to transform highly visible infrastructure into a series of bold, contemporary artworks that reflect the people, businesses, architecture, ecology, history and evolving identity of the corridor.

Each box is meant to function as an individual artwork while contributing to a cohesive, walkable trail. Designs should be recognizable from the roadway while including details that reward pedestrian discovery.

The ten box locations span Government Street at Park Boulevard, North Boulevard at South 22 Street, Government Street at Ardenwood Drive, Government Street at South Eugene Street, Government Street at South Acadian Thruway, Claycut Road at LA-427, Government Street at Lobdell Avenue, Government Street at Edison Street, South Foster Drive at Government Street and Community College Drive at Government Street.
