BATON ROUGE — Two Westdale Middle School students were arrested after threatening each other, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said.

On Friday, the school drug task force investigated a social media incident that occurred off campus as the pair got into an argument and were subsequently charged with aggravated assault.

"Because the incident occurred off campus and did not impact the safety, operation or broader student body at Westdale Middle, we did not initially send a schoolwide notification," Westdale Middle officials said in a statement released on Monday.

WBRZ has asked the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and the sheriff's office for more information about the threats.
