Woman arrested in Texas extradited to Louisiana on charges tied to 2023 check theft, forgery
LIVINGSTON — A woman accused of stealing checks from a Livingston Parish hotel was arrested in Texas earlier this month and has since been extradited to Louisiana.
Ebony Banks, 42, was arrested in Collin County, Texas, on Aug. 3. She was arrested on assault charges, as well as theft and insurance charges.
Banks was wanted in Livingston Parish following a May 2023 incident when checks were stolen from the Days Inn in Denham Springs. The checks, a spokesperson at the sheriff's office said, were worth more than $2,000.
On Tuesday, Banks was extradited to Livingston Parish and booked into the parish jail on bank fraud, burglary and other charges. She was booked on a $70,000 bond, jail records show.
