PONCHATOULA — After opening in June, Ponchatoula's The Cypress Landing is expanding with a 7,000 sq. ft. addition to its current market and restaurant space. 

The Cypress Landing, a multi-tenant shopping and dining development in downtown Ponchatoula, initially opened with a 12,000 sq. ft. space, but management said Wednesday that they have outgrown the space. 

"Our vendors grew. The waitlist grew. The ideas grew. And somewhere between opening weekend and now, all that space we thought would last us forever started feeling a whole lot smaller," owners said. 

Owners added that they have begun "tearing things apart to make room" for the expansion, which will add more vendors and allow for "more room to wander."

"For now that means trailers, tractors, walls coming down and a whole lot of stuff that requires men to stand around looking at it with their hands on their hips," owners said. 

Owners said that The Cypress Landing, located on North 6th Street, is still open amid the expansion.
