We’ll begin the week with another round of warm, dry weather before moisture gradually returns. The biggest change comes later this week, when a much wetter pattern could bring repeated thunderstorms and a growing risk of heavy rain from Friday into the weekend. 

Today and Tonight:  Monday will be mostly sunny and dry across the area, with highs in the lower 90s. A reinforcing push of dry air will keep humidity relatively low, making the afternoon heat more manageable than the temperature alone might suggest. Clear skies and dry air will allow temperatures to fall into the upper 60s and lower 70s tonight. Tuesday will be another quiet day, with similar temperatures and very little chance for rain.

Up Next: The atmosphere begins to change Wednesday as Gulf moisture starts working its way back north. That will bring a few showers into the forecast, but a strong layer of high pressure aloft should limit thunderstorm development.

Rain chances increase Thursday as the moisture continues to deepen. Scattered showers and thunderstorms become more likely, although the coverage should still be fairly limited. The forecast becomes much more active Friday through the weekend. A surge of tropical moisture could push atmospheric moisture to unusually high levels, allowing thunderstorms to produce very heavy rain. 

Tropics: Tropical Depression Fay remains far out over the Atlantic and poses no threat to the Gulf Coast. Another disturbance in the central Atlantic has a medium chance of developing.
